http://www.stthom.edu | The growing number of children with an incarcerated parent is a serious problem with serious consequences for our society. Today, there are more than 2.7 million of these children. Research shows that education, mentoring and intervention are positive ways to make a difference in the lives of these families. Rama Gerig created an organization, Society's Forgotten Children, whose goal is to give these children a voice in society, preventing them from suffering the silent stigma associated with their parent's crime. Several inmates at Larch Corrections Center in Yacolt, Washington, were given the opportunity to care for and train shelter dogs from the Humane Society for Southwest Washington. The dogs will eventually be up for adoption. Full Story online here: http://bit.ly/2iBo3nN
